Linda Kay Christiansen

Linda K. (Mall) Christiansen was born February 24th, 1964, to John and Lorraine (Benson) Mall in Slayton, Minnesota and passed away unexpectantly at her home in Fort Myers, Florida into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 3, 2026. Linda was the youngest of four and enjoyed playing with LuAnn, Jerry, and Jeff. When they were younger, much of the time was spent playing games outside with the neighborhood kids. Even in the winter, everyone was bundled up in snowsuits, boots, and mittens to go out and play in the snow. Linda made friends easily and when the move to Shenandoah, Iowa arrived, she made high school friends and enjoyed working as a lifeguard at the pool in the summers. After graduating in 1982 from the Shenandoah High School, she continued her education at Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated with a degree in Theater. While in college, she spent her summers working for the Brownville Village Theater group in Brownville, Nebraska from 1985-1988, working behind the scenes and on stage. After her time in Brownville, Linda became a traveler. She worked for opera companies in Sante Fe, NM, Washington D.C., Minneapolis, MN., and Miami, Fl. She worked mostly in the costume departments. Linda finally decided to make her home in Santa Fe, NM. Working for the Opera Company in the costume and make-up department. Linda met the love of her life, James Christiansen, in Santa Fe. After a long-distance courtship between Santa Fe and Denver, they married in a quaint little rural church outside Raton, NM on May 11, 1996. Linda welcomed into her life James’ daughter, Jessica. James and Linda started their home improvement construction company in Denver and worked side by side for 10 years until they decided it was time to get out of the cold and snow and moved to sunny Florida to be closer to Linda’s parents. There she worked at the Fort Myers News Press in the advertising department. Later she went to work for The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Cape Coral and then in Punta Gorda. With a husband and family members in the military, she had a calling to support them through the thrift stores. She was a good and caring worker. Linda worked very hard at what she did, and her family and faith were very important to her. Proceeding her in death were her parents, brother Jeff, daughter Jessica and her niece, Jennifer Campbell. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, James; sister LuAnn (Alan) Armstrong; brother Jerry (Julie) Mall; and nieces and nephews: Jon, Justin (Sammi) Mall, Alexis (Jordan) Dierking, and Jeff (Kady) Armstrong. Also, Jerry, JoAnna, and Genna Campbell and Ethan, Ellie and Erik Mall. And a very Special Aunt and Uncle, Shirley and Don Pemberton, her fur baby Holiday along with many other family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to her sister, LuAnn Armstrong, 300 West Thomas, Shenandoah, IA 51601 for designation.
