William F. Wallum

William F. (Bill) Wallum, age 87 of Lehigh Acres, FL. went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Lehigh Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born November 1, 1935 in Buffalo NY to the late Bladie and Evelyn (Edinger) Wallum. Bill was predeceased by his brothers, Richard (late Josephine) Wallum of Tuscan AZ, David (Joyce) Wallum of Derby NY and sister Dorothy Wallum of Buffalo NY. He was also deceased by the mothers of his children, Diane Marie LaFlamme and Mary Ellen (Thomas) Wallum, infant son, Patrick Wallum and granddaughter Alethia Sanders. After graduating from high school Bill immediately started his long (44yr) career with the railroad system, starting on the "Old Erie" RR. Bill was a man who loved his job, he always had a smile on his face when he got “the call” and left for work. It wasn't just a job for him, it was a way of life. A time in his life he was proud of were the 39 years he was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He became involved in their prison ministry taking meetings to the Wyoming County Jail in Warsaw, NY every week from 1983 until 2013 when he moved to FL. He continued with those meetings at the Lee County Jail in Fort Myers FL until 2022 when he was not able to continue due to illness. Bill married Pamela Longhine-Wallum on 11-1-1997. They enjoyed traveling and a backyard full of beautiful flowers, 3 ponds and trains weaving through the tunnels and across bridges he made throughout the gardens. He built many red cabooses, some that ran at the ends of certain trains and many others that were given to children when they visited. Bill was a good kind hardworking man who lived a good life and had no regrets when that final “call” came. He is survived by his loving wife, Pam, his children: William P. (Maggie) Wallum, Glen Wallum, Sharon Mugle, Laura Wallum Flumerfeldt, Kevin (Amy) Wallum, Renee Wallum, Stepchildren: Donald Allen Sr., Dana Allen, Karen Allen Cali and Jeffrey Longhine. Grandchildren: Ian (Jacqueline) Wallum, Emily Ann Wallum, Cody Wallum, Jayson Mugle, Jessie Mugle, Andrew Flumerfeldt, Jonathon (Kayla) Flumerfeldt, Tyler (Allison) Wallum, Christopher (Amber) Wallum, Kyle Wallum, Joseph Ebersole, Joshua Ebersole, Maggie (Parker) Gabel, Nyssa Sanders, 18 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Joyce Wallum, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Darlene (Ralph) Taylor, many nieces and nephews and many dear friends both in FL and NY. He also leaves behind his loving furbaby, Scarlett. As per his wishes there are no calling hours. Arrangements in FL were entrusted to the Gendron Funeral and Cremation Services, Lehigh Acres FL. There will be a service in Silver Springs, NY at a later date TBD by his family.
