Barbara Ann Welter

Barbara Ann Walsh Welter, 76, of Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2021. She was born on October 31, 1945 (the best Halloween treat), in Chicago, Illinois to Edward and Adeline “Della” Walsh. She graduated from Maine East High School in Park Ridge, IL. Barb was beautiful inside and out, so it was fitting that upon graduation she went to cosmetology school. In 1964, Barb married her high school sweetheart George and they shared 56 years of marriage. Barb was recently predeceased by her beloved husband George, and they are now reunited bringing peace to their loved ones. Barb was a devoted mother to her greatest pride and joy her children, and treasured being a MeeMaw to her grandsons. In 1976, Barb moved to Siesta Key, Sarasota, Florida with her family, and lived in the Sarasota/Bradenton area for the past 45 years. Barb was a homemaker, a court recorder, managed Zippy Lube (their family business), and was a dedicated caretaker to her husband for many years. She enjoyed traveling the country with her husband in their RV, spending time with her family and friends, talking to anyone about anything, and watching Hallmark movies. She was a beautiful gift with a heart that gave and forgave. Barb’s family and friends paid these tributes to her, “She was fashionable, festive, fun, and full of faith,” “She was so cute and tiny we nicknamed her Pocket Barbie,” “She touched so many with kindness, love, and concern,” “The heavens received a beautiful angel,” “She was always thinking of others and making everyone feel welcomed and loved,” “She was hospitable, crafty, caring, and compassionate,” “She had a great sense of humor, and a beautiful smile to go with it,” “She is the Angel at the top of your Christmas tree,” and many more thoughtful words that will be cherished. Barb will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lisa (Mike) Duncan, Julie (the late John) Choronenko, and son Brian Welter; grandsons John, Jacob, and Joshua Choronenko; siblings, John (Bobbi) Walsh and Mike Walsh; in-laws: Ken and Barb Welter, Jackie Grendel, Bonnie and Doug Civins, and Kathie Walsh; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be deeply missed, and her sweet loving spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who were blessed to love her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in her memory.
