Donald Edward Hecker Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Donald Edward Hecker, of Baltimore Maryland who resided in Lakewood Ranch Florida, and previously lived in Ridgely Maryland, passed away on May 4th, 2022 in Lakewood Ranch Florida. He was born on September 19th, 1941 in Baltimore to the late Harry Francis Hecker and Mary Marie Pomroff Hecker. Mr. Hecker graduated from Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School in 1959, served in the Army reserves, worked as a Quality Control Inspector for most of his career, and last worked for Broadway Transport Services retiring in 2007. On October 10th, 1964 he married Charleen Kacher Hecker; they had two daughters Chardon and Diana. Don loved to fish, crab, and hunt; he was a member of Balmar Sportsmen’s Club since the 1960’s. Helping others was important to Don, he volunteered over the years with Operation Christmas Child, Hepzbah Missions, New Life Wesleyan Church (as usher, teller, and at other special events), Greater Impact Church, and His Hope Ministries events. Don is survived by daughter Chardon Lynn Hecker of Denton Maryland; daughter Diana Lee Gourley of Lakewood Ranch Florida, son-in-law Brian Russell Gourley, grandson Zephan Zach Gourley, granddaughter Zoe Allison Gourley; sister Agnes Hecker Gerhold of Baltimore Maryland; brother-in-law Frederick W. Kacher III & sister-in-law Nancy Kacher of Fairfax Virginia; brother-in-law Wayne I. Kacher, Sr. & late sister-in-law Ruth Kacher of Baltimore Maryland; niece Laura Kacher; nephews: Brian Gerhold, Keith Gerhold, Fred Kacher, Glen Kacher, Dan Kacher, Wayne Kacher, and Michael Kacher; amazing spouses and children of niece and nephews; many dear cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his dear wife who went to be with the Lord on June 27th, 2018, he is preceded in death by his twin grandsons Zeph Andrew Gourley and Zachary Ian Gourley. Memorial prayers were held by daughter Diana’s family, who Don resided with in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Hecker were both organ donors and cremated per their wishes.
