Gerald Lloyd Ashford

August 19, 1954 - April 30, 2022

Gerald "Jerry" Lloyd Ashford Sr. passed away suddenly at home in Lehigh Acres on April 30, 2022 at the age of 67. Jerry is the son of Lloyd Ashford and Dorothy Sayers-Ashford both of Illinois and who proceed him in death. He attended Granite City Senior High School in Illinois. Gerald was a firefighter with the Godfrey Fire Department, Assistant Chief with Long Lake Fire Department and Captain with Melvin Price Support Center, He would eventually retire as a firefighter/paramedic. Gerald is survived by his wife Bridgett Thurman Ashford, son Gerald "Chip" Ashford from Illinois, who followed in his father's footsteps as a firefighter with St Charles Missouri Fire Department, a daughter Brittany Ashford-Tarver and son in law Willie Tarver, from Florida, six grandchildren Haley, Madison, Olivia, Gavin Ashford all of Illinois, Malaki and Willie from Florida. Sister Dixie Peavler and brother in law Lee Peavler from Missouri. Many nieces, nephews and other extended family. Gerald was also a Member of the Bethalto Jaycees in Bethatlo Illinois. He volunteered his time playing the part of Santa for the Jaycees and family and friends. The Family is asking in lieu of flowers that donations be made to: The Back Stoppers @ BackStoppers.org. Visitation and memorial services will be held Monday, May 16th at Long Lake Fire Department, Pontoon Beach, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5pm-6pm, with Memorial services beginning at 6pm. Food, refreshments and fellowship to follow. For family and friends unable to attend, the memorial services will be streamed live.
