Lena M Vieira has left us to go home on April 11, 2020 she was 81 years young... Lena was born 09/30/1938 in the village of Nordeste on the Island of San Miquel, Azores she was the daughter of Manuel Medeiros and Maria Botelho She was born into a hard working family of 2 brothers and 3 sisters, who all migrated here over the years and brought along their family values and beliefs , She arrived in America not knowing anything about the future ahead and what obstacles she would be faced with, but it didn't stop her from wanting a better life for her family, without knowing the language or customs she overcame great adversity , she worked double shifts in knitting mills ,she took any odd jobs that she could in order to live the American Dream, after a few years of hard work she managed to buy a home that she could raise her family in , A little later she became a business owner when she bought and operated a little breakfast and lunch diner. One of the proudest days she experienced was the day she became an American Citizen she studied and worked so hard to achieve that status. One of the longest jobs she had was being Police Dept. Safety Officer , a job she took very seriously, hundreds of kids over the years came to respect her, some who later had kids of their own and would bring them by just to meet her. Among some of the things she believed in was the strength of family bonds and hard work. And she worked hard to support her children and tried to give them the best life that she could, that came with a lot of sacrifice that she willingly accepted. She was never one to turn anyone in need away, always ready to help or feed anyone that needed it. She participated in many events and organizations in order to stay involved with her children along the way she increased the size of those that she cared about. She became a girl scout leader in order to spend time with her daughter and She became a den mother in order to spend time with her sons. Through a series of events she helped form a folk dance group consisting of the first Portuguese Girl Scouts and the First Portuguese Boy Scouts of America . She loved to sing and dance and more than that she loved to make people happy. Lena was a very unique person was loved by so many people over the years. For all those who knew her would know that she loves to talk and talk and talk....she was a woman full of life experiences, Her favorite holiday was Christmas... because it matched her personality, she loved giving to others and making everyone happy... she loved to sing, dance and having many of her very special friends with accordion and home made gadgets as instruments as they gathered to go Christmas caroling...she shared her happiness and her smile was contagious and even when you didn't want to laugh she had a unique way of making you happy...later on in life she took on a different role as a care taker, caring for some one whom later on became part of her family...She has touched so many lives in so many ways. The world needed more people like her ….. but god needed help and felt she could help more people if she was by his side, now joining her siblings in peace.. Manuel De Medeiros, Noemia (Emma)Medeiros Pacheco, Odelia Barboza, Judith Medeiros and Antero Medeiros. *leaving behind (son)Joe Silva-Vieira & Cheryl (son)Louie Silva-Vieira (daughter) Luisa Linda Elorreaga & Michael (son) Paul Vieira (stepson) Michael Pineau (live-in partner) Roger Borges *grandchildren are Stephen, Crystal, Jennifer, Melissa, Desirae, Alex, Miranda, Danny, Jessica, Mandy, Nicole, Chase, Brett, Jonathan, Michael Jr, Evelina, Glenn, Carol and Erica.. *great grandchildren who she adored and loved : Bowen, Austin, Breanna, Jaelynne, Skylha, Kacie, Ariya, Daiseana, Coltyn, Kevin, Jaxen, Ivan, Ruby, Riley, Jasmine, Riston, Lucas, Khloe, Kali, Logan, Maci, Tristan, Cole, James, Isabella, Ryan and Inara *also a long time friend Melly Raposa “Her life was well lived, and earth is a cruel place to be.
