Maria Louisa Suarez

August 7, 1938 - March 26, 2022

Maria Luisa Suarez, loving mother of seven, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in the early hours of March 26th. She was recently diagnosed with cancer, like many things in her life she kept this private. Maria never wanted to see anyone sad or burden them with her hardships, her selflessness wasn’t something that came about after her diagnosis, she has been this way her whole life, she was the rock of her family. Maria was born in 1938 in Puerto Rico and grew up surrounded by family, from childhood she focused on giving her time and caring for those she loved, mealtime was a sacred time, it is where family came together to spend time and show love. Maria was a homemaker, the most important job she could undertake, she brought peace and stability to her home. Her illness made her final days difficult yet through it all she remained strong and focused on ensuring her family would be ok and understand how much she loved us. Her perseverance and strength are her legacy, she taught us that challenges and change are inevitable but can be faced with the support and love of your family. Maria’s final wishes were to be cremated so a piece of her would remain with her family. “When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do, You mustn’t tie yourself to me with too many tears, But be thankful we had so many good years.” - Unknown
