David Alexander Carter

David Alexander Carter, born in Chicago, Illinois on December 1st, 1950 reached the end of his earthly toils at age 74 on May 22nd, 2025. Dave, as known by his friends and family, lived a full life of dedication to his friends, family, and community. Dave's early years were spent surrounded by his loving parents, brothers, and friends. He enjoyed learning and the outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing. After high school, Dave joined the United States Navy and found a talent for using his hands when he became an aircraft mechanic. A talent that would persist. Following the Navy, Dave stayed close to his parents and brothers, eventually moving to Missouri where he began his own family journey by marrying Julie Fisher in 1972. Together they were blessed with son Christopher and daughter Catina, spending a few years traveling to various states in search of the right place to settle down. In 1978, Dave and family moved to Unionville, Missouri where he became a meaningful part of the community by serving in the local volunteer fire department, becoming a member of local Fraternal Order of Masons, and Shriners. In 1981, Dave achieved the highest Masonic honor when he was elected Worshipful Master of the Masons. He continued to be a dedicated member for his entire life. In 1986, Dave's family expanded when he married Betty Carter in Macon, Missouri and embraced her daughter, Debbie, as one of his own. In 1988, the three moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida to be closer to his parents. Dave continued his focus on his family and community by becoming a member of the local Knights Templar, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations. Dave found a companion in Cheryl Meekins in 1996 who would be by his side for the remainder of his life as he enjoyed Florida's sun and fraternity. Dave was extremely intelligent and a skilled jack-of-all trades who could build or fix almost anything. He enjoyed being around other people, having a good time, chatting about the topic of the day and playing the slots at different places. But, most importantly, he cherished the time he was able to spend with his brothers and children. The yearly brother get together held a special place in his heart. He will be missed. Dave is preceded in death by parents Martin Luther and Ruth Alice (Eichler) Carter, sister-in-law Linda (Nickell) Carter, and son-in-law Raymond Smith. Dave leaves behind brothers Jim (Sharon) Carter, John (Maureen) Carter, and Tom Carter; son Christopher (Alison) Carter, and daughters Catina (Ryan) Carlson and Debbie Smith; grandchildren Tyrel Archer, Jaycilyn Nutter, Garrett Nutter, Carter Nutter, Alex Daniels, and Austin Daniels; great grandchildren Sayge Lockman, Ace Archer, and Asuna Archer.
