Thomas Goodman

Thomas Arthur Goodman Jr., 25, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away December 23, 2011. His young life was taken by a senseless act of violence which his family and friends are still trying to comprehend. Thomas was born January 4, 1986 in Fort Myers, Florida to Thomas and Trema (Banks) Goodman. Thomas attended the Lee County School District before graduation from Cypress Lake High School. At a young age, Thomas displayed a love for the game of football, playing for the Pop Warner Little League Cypress Lake Hornets and then as a Freshman on the Cypress Lake High School team. Thomas enjoyed a number of pastimes, but his favorite was spending time with his finace Taylisa Johnson and being a father to his three children, Torriah, Carl'Janae and Thomas A. Goodman III. Thomas greatly valued the importance of his family and will always be remembered fondly as his mother's keeper and for the many conversations and joking between him and his father. The precious memories Thomas leaves will be cherished by his fiancee Taylisa Johnson; step daughters Torriah and Carl'Janae; son Thomas A. Goodman III; his parents Trema and Thomas A. Goodman Sr.; his sisters Marquita, Tremisha and Aaliyah Lee Goodman and his brother Marquis Goodman; his paternal Greatgrandparents Mr. Eddie Goodman and Mrs. Maple Goodman; his maternal Grandparents Mr. Levi Ross and Mrs. Ruby Ross; his maternal Great grandmother Dueramae Everett; his favorite uncle Kevin Dunbar; a special niece Akeria Meshae Clay and four special nephews, Torrance, Trevontay, Charles and Jermiah all from Fort Myers. Thomas also leaves behind his best friend Kenneth Talbert Jr. (Buck). He is preceded in death by his Great Grandfather Homer Banks and Great Grandmother Lucille Banks; his Grandfather Walter Everett, his Grandmother Minilee Goodman and by his sister Alexandra Goodman. Thomas was also blessed to include numerous aunts, uncles, extended family members and friends among the people he loved dearly. A Visitation in honor of Thomas will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 3:00-5:00 PM at the Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2754 Orange Street, Fort Myers, FL 33916 (239) 332-0305. Reverend James C. Givens will officiate a Funeral Service at the church on the following day, Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Immediately following the funeral at church, burial will take place at City of Fort Myers Cemetery.
